🌻 ALCEU VALENÇA - 80 SUNFLOWERS - EUROPEAN TOUR🌻
A tour celebrating the artist’s 80th birthday will visit eleven cities in eight European countries in October and November 2026.
ALCEU VALENÇA will celebrate eight decades of life in 2026, fully charged with infinite volts of clean, renewed, solar energy. To mark the occasion, the 80 SUNFLOWERS tour will visit eleven cities across eight European countries in October and November 2026. The tour opens at Dublin’s National Stadium (28/10). It then continues to Portugal, with shows in Lisbon (Coliseu, 30/10), Coimbra (Convento de S. Francisco, 31/10) and Porto (Coliseu, 01/11). The route follows to Brussels (La Madeleine, 04/11), Amsterdam (Melkweg, 05/11), London (Royal Festival Hall, 07/11), Paris (Salle Pleyel, 08/11), Geneva (Alhambra, 10/11), Zurich (Kaufleuten, 11/11). The European tour closes in Berlin (Astra, 13/11).
80 Sunflowers arrives in Europe after passing through ten Brazilian capitals. It presents Alceu at the height of his artistry, performing his greatest hits with his trademark energy on stage. Alongside songs such as “Anunciação”, “Belle de Jour” and “Tropicana”, the show revisits his entire artistic journey, from the very beginning to the present day. Alceu Valença’s musical saga begins with “Papagaio do Futuro”, performed alongside Geraldo Azevedo and Jackson do Pandeiro at the 1972 International Song Festival. Also from the early years, “Espelho Cristalino” stands out as a pioneering environmental anthem: “essa rua, sem céu sem horizontes, foi um rio de águas cristalinas.”
The concert travels through the deep cultural landscapes of Brazil in songs such as “Cabelo no Pente,” “Coração Bobo,” and “Cavalo de Pau”, connecting with Alceu Valença’s most essential identity. Since his childhood days on Fazenda Riachão, in São Bento do Una, Pernambuco, Alceu drew inspiration from the traditional parties, markets, and rodeos of the Northeast—similar to the sources used by pioneer Luiz Gonzaga (1912–1989), the “King of Baião,” to shape the foundations of what became the forró genre. Gonzaga’s legacy appears in Alceu’s new renditions of “Pagode Russo” and “Sabiá,” the latter with a subtle Portuguese inflection, revealing how Northeastern Brazilian melodies resonate with Portuguese fado.
Along sun-drenched roads and pathways, the singer leads us to the coastline, specifically Recife, the setting of “Pelas Ruas que Andei” and “Belle de Jour”, recently revisited as a duet with French singer Zaz. From Recife to Olinda, genres such as frevo, maracatu and cirandas radiate the overwhelming energy of carnival. Alceu annually leads the “Bicho Maluco Beleza” street block through São Paulo and Recife, each attracting nearly one million revelers. That vibrant atmosphere makes its way onto the stage in the Pernambuco carnival segment of the show.
Throughout his career, Alceu has become known for cultivating Brazilian and Northeastern sonorities in a contemporary, urban language with irresistible popular appeal. The visual projections, directed by Rafael Todeschini, explore the dreamlike graphics characteristic of the artist’s work. With exceptional ability to renew his audience, songs like “Anunciação,” “Tropicana,” “Belle de Jour,” “Como Dois Animais,” and “Táxi Lunar” continue to captivate new generations. “Anunciação” has reached 200 million streams on Spotify, sung in stadiums in and outside Brazil, while “Belle de Jour” surpasses 300 million views on YouTube, and “Tropicana” exceeds 100 million Spotify listeners.
This is Alceu Valença’s fourth European tour in partnership with Portuguese producer Primeira Linha. In 2022, he performed in Portugal, England, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Spain. The following year, France was added to the itinerary (Alceu lived in Paris in the late ’70s, where he composed one of his major hits, “Coração Bobo”). In 2025, he performed alongside the Ouro Preto Orchestra in major concert halls across these countries. In 2026, he undertakes what is intended to be the largest and most significant European tour of his career.
ALCEU VALENÇA stars in 80 SUNFLOWERS accompanied by Tovinho (keyboards and musical direction), Cássio Cunha (drums), Zi Ferreira (guitar), Nando Barreto (bass), André Julião (accordion), Costinha (flutes). Special Guests: Lui Coimbra (cello) and Natalia Mitre (percussion).
